Hip Pain & Tight Hips

Massage for Hip Pain & Tight Hips in NYC | ReviTouch FiDi

Sitting for most of the day keeps the hips bent for hours at a time. The hip flexors shorten, the glutes switch off, and the result is tight, achy hips — often with lower back pain along for the ride. Runners and gym-goers feel it too, especially on the outside of the hip and down the IT band.

How massage can help

Our therapists work on the hip flexors, glutes, outer hip and thighs to release tight tissue and restore easier movement. Many clients find their hips feel looser right after the session and their lower back calmer too. Combined with regular movement breaks, massage can help keep stiffness from returning.

What to expect

We'll ask where you feel the tightness and what aggravates it — sitting, running, stairs, sleeping on your side. The session focuses on the hips, glutes and legs, with pressure adjusted to you. You'll leave with a simple stretch or two for the office or after a run.

Common questions

Do I need to undress fully?
No. You'll be properly draped the whole time, and your therapist only uncovers the area they're working on. Tell us what you're comfortable with.

Can massage help with hip arthritis?
It can ease the muscle tension around a stiff joint and help you move more comfortably, though it won't change the joint itself.

When should I see a doctor?
See a doctor if hip pain follows a fall, you can't put weight on the leg, or there's swelling, redness or fever.
