Sciatica

Sciatica Massage in NYC | ReviTouch Financial District

Sciatica is pain that travels along the sciatic nerve — from the lower back or buttock down the back of the leg, sometimes with tingling or numbness. For many New Yorkers it flares after long days at a desk, a long commute, or a jump in running mileage.

How massage can help

Massage doesn't fix a disc, but it can ease the muscle tension that often makes sciatic pain worse. Our therapists work on the lower back, glutes, piriformis and hamstrings to release tight tissue, improve blood flow and help you move more comfortably. Many clients notice relief after the first session, and regular sessions can help keep flare-ups down.

What to expect

We start by asking where the pain runs, what makes it worse, and any diagnosis from your doctor. Your therapist then focuses on the areas that matter for you, adjusting pressure as you go. You'll leave with one or two simple stretches to keep things loose between visits.

Common questions

How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Many clients come weekly for 3–4 weeks, then less often once things settle.

Is deep pressure better for sciatica?
Not always. Firm, targeted work helps, but we never push into sharp nerve pain.

Should I see a doctor first?
Yes, if you have severe pain, weakness in the leg, or loss of bladder or bowel control — those need medical attention right away.
