TMJ & Jaw Tension

Jaw tension often comes from clenching or grinding your teeth, especially during stressful periods or while you sleep. It can show up as a sore or tired jaw, clicking, headaches at the temples, earache-like pain, or tightness that runs into the neck and shoulders.
How massage can help
Gentle massage releases the chewing muscles at the side of the face and temples, along with the neck and shoulder muscles that tighten along with them. Many clients find it eases jaw soreness and the headaches that come with clenching, and it can complement care from your dentist.
What to expect
Your therapist works on the neck, shoulders, scalp and the outside of the jaw and face with light, careful pressure. If you're comfortable, they can show you a simple self-massage to use when you notice yourself clenching.
Common questions
Does the therapist work inside the mouth?
No. All work is done from the outside of the face, jaw and neck.
How long should I book?
45 minutes covers the jaw, neck and shoulders. Choose 60 if you'd like more time for the upper back.
When should I see a doctor or dentist?
If your jaw locks, you can't open your mouth fully, or pain follows an injury, see your dentist or doctor first.
